Video conferencing technology has come a long way in recent years- however it will never truly replicate a face to face conversation. Be aware that you have a better chance of being heard if you don’t try to speak over people, try to get the group’s attention before you dive in and make your point.
It might seem obvious- but using good quality hardware that’s suitable for your space is typically the biggest variable affecting your video conferencing experience. If you’re experiencing issues with your conferencing system, the equipment you’re using might not be up to the task.

If you’re in a space with lots of noise or back lighting, mute your microphone when you aren’t speaking or lower the blinds – the other participants will thank you.

Screen sharing is a great way to communicate while video conferencing, sometimes a picture really does say a thousand words. With this said, always make an effort to prepare your computer for screen sharing by closing unnecessary tabs and windows and opening any documents you plan on sharing ahead of time.
